The Big Buddha in Hong Kong

Following on from my last blog where i told you about my trip to Hong Kong. I now have the next video instalment - day two!

Day two is actually split into two vlogs because we squeezed that many activities into one day and i didn't want to have a super long video that put people to asleep. Please note: If you scroll down to the end of this blog post, you can see the video.

Rachel took me on a trip to see The Big Buddha on day two, however we started the day off with a full english breakfast in our hotel (which had the most amazing gold decor!) before heading on over to Ngong Ping 360 via the underground station. I loved the doors in the station because they literally spelled out the meaning behind the beeping sound that occurs when a train is stopping. That made us laugh for ages and so you see it feature in the video also.

We took the underground to Tung Chung Station, followed by a short walk to the aerial tramway, Ngong Ping 360. This is one the most amazing ways to get to the Big Buddha - by traveling up into the mountains - and we chose to do it in style. Equipped with a glass bottom, the Crystal Cabin allowed us to have a under-foot view of the sea whilst we took in the surrounding scenery.

The Big Buddha was built in 1993 and it sits 34 metres high, facing north to look over the Chinese people. We walked 268 steps to get to the bottom of the statue and there were happy tourists everywhere; some praying, others taking photos and many were simply taking in the view of the mountains.

After a long day of walking around - visiting the monastery and gardens - we then headed back down from the top of the mountains via the cable car and into the underground.

The rest of the day has been captured in a separate blog, which you can read HERE.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoy the video!
