Happy New Year! | Resolutions

Where did January come from?

It feels as though it just crept up from behind me, but i am glad it’s here.
Last year was a learning curve, I turned 25 and spent the last months of the year analysing a few things in my life. John and I have started to focus on building our futures together instead of sailing through the months, which means that this year brings positive changes. Exciting times ahead!

As it’s the New Year, i’ve decided to set myself some resolutions.

1. Do and complete things as i think of them. - That seems incredibly vague; but as i’m such a workaholic, my personal life tends to lack, and so i make tons of lists to motivate myself into organising my home life. This has therefore resulted in a note book being carried around EVERYWHERE i go and now i also write lists in the notes app on my iPhone / iPad too. But then the challenge will be to translate those ‘things’ or ‘lists’ into actual actions.

On that note, does anyone else find this happens to them when they are throwing themselves into working? Or in my case, at the moment, looking for a job (which is a job in itself!).

Here is my new note book that mum & dad bought me for Christmas & i absolutely love.

It's from the Gorguss range at Scruffy Little Cat and mum says the girl character reminds her of me.

2. Make time for the people who matter the most. - This is kind of running with the theme of throwing myself into work mode. Since my funding ended with my previous role, i’ve taken time to visit and catch up with friends and family, which before was a bit of a luxury and not because i was over-worked but because i simply found it difficult to switch off.

As i ran their social media and website communications, on a weekend i would constantly check that scheduled tweets were posting, the website was live, how people were interacting on Facebook - just so that i had the peace that it was running well. But also i would spend hours researching new trends, event concepts, quirky fundraising campaigns and basically everything to do with work. So i have realised that perhaps those tasks should definitely be minimised or completed during work hours if possible. Not only so that i get to spend time with those close to me, but then my brain might have a rest too.

3. Drink more water. - I read that women should drink about 1.6 litres of fluid a day to stay healthy and i don’t think i drink near enough that amount, so i want to change that this year.

So that’s my resolutions set, let’s see if i can keep them!

Keep smiling :-)
