Mid week pick-me-up

All you have to do is be yourself and live the story that no one else can live - the story of your own unique life. Be proud and confident. And most of all be happy.

Social Media Favourites I January (Part two) 2015

Happy Sunday!

This week i came across a great selection of goodness, which i couldn't wait to share. Usually I don't document them in a specific order, however the first is my absolute favourite!

Enjoy :-)

1.   Winter 'Uptown Funk' Look book | Sprinkle of Glitter

Sprinkle of Glitter (Louise Pentland) is a British Blogger, YouTuber and all round lovely person. Her latest Look book video had me beaming from ear to ear and if you click on the image below, you will see why.

In the description of the video, Louise wrote the following:

"Always remember, your body is just a body. Just flesh and blood and bones and gunk (ew). Clothes are just bits of fabric stitched together. You may as well wear whatever you want. The trick is to wear them with confidence. Start with a smile and go from there.

Big is beautiful, small is beautiful, short is beautiful, tall is beautiful. "

2. Goodness Cycle

I like to look at the below image as a cycle of goodness. After all, what goes around comes around. Incorporate even one of the below into your lifestyle and you're bound to be happy whilst making someone else happy too!

3. Dover Police DashCam Confessional (Shake it Off)

A lip syncing police man by the name of Master Cpl, Jeff Davis from Delaware has shared some Dash Cam (a camera set up on the dash board of the police car) footage of him getting down to Taylor Swift's hit "Shake it Off".

The entertaining footage is that good, that the Dover Police Department have decided to start their own web series called 'Dash Cam Confessionals', so make sure that you click on the link below to watch and subscribe!

4. Send a virtual hug

One of my close friends is going through a tough time at the moment, so i like to send her pictures that will make her smile and in my search, i found this!

A virtual hug, what a simply brilliant idea.

5. Glowing murals by Bogi Fabian

Bogi Fabian is an European artist whose creativity affects the various forms of expression. Her current goal is to create unique spaces where living and relaxing become an experience.
I'm sure you will agree that her creations are amazing and at times breath taking too, these dreamy worlds must be a pleasure to be inside.

Social Media Favourites I January 2015

Last year I documented my best weekly social media finds with regular blog updates called ‘Social Media Favourites’ and i’ve decided to continue this series of blog entries into 2015. After all, i’m an advocate for using social media for goodness.

Therefore, please find below a hand picked selection of funny, entertaining and educational content that have been shared across YouTube and twitter over the last week.

1. Foot tapping in New York

New York based band Coyote & Crown performed a cover of ‘Me and my uncle’ by Greatful Dead in Williamsburg back in November last year and their performance certainly sparked a few funky dance moves and the odd jig.

2. Awesome Facebook profile pictures

Everyone loves a good looking guy with a sense of humour and this one has oodles of creativity too! Each week he uploads a new transformation, complete with costumes, make up and the perfect location.

There’s 20 to scroll through and no two are the same:

3. Break Free

Australian model and DJ Ruby Rose wrote, produced and stared in her own short film last year about gender roles. The film addresses gender fluidity, being Transgender and what it is like to have an identity that deviates from the status quo. The autobiographical video includes insightful images of Ruby cutting hair, removing make up, binding breasts and putting on a prosthetic phallic.

For those that don't understand, please take five minutes to watch and for those that do understand, you still may learn something. I did.

4. Mini Me's

Baby boy’s dressed in cute outfits to match their dad’s is pretty adorable and Bored Panda have gone one step further by collating 20 of the best ‘like father, like son’ photos of dad’s and their sons in different scenarios.

*Warning* - Cuteness overload!

5. Isabella takes on Gaston

Imagine taking a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida and being able to meet the characters from your favourite Disney films? Well, YouTuber ‘Jonas Almost Famous’ happened to capture the funniest moment whilst queuing to meet Gaston (Villain from Beauty and the Beast). Situated at his meet and greet spot in Fantasyland, Gaston meets an adorable little girl named Isabella who takes upon her self to stick up for the Beast and the scene that unfolds, is just hilarious.

Goals

On Wednesday, during the build up to the New Year. John ( my fiancĂ©) and I decided to participate in a task that will hopefully benefit us throughout 2015 and help to shape what we would like to get out of the year.

We decided to set some goals.

Cheesy as it sounds, I thought it was a brilliant idea! John on the other hand would have rather grated his face off then think about what he wants to achieve this year. But as he clearly loves me (we have been together over 8 years) and presumably to shut me up quicker, he got involved with the idea.

The categories (yes we had categories) were as follows:

Personal goals
Work goals
Couple goals
Goals for each other

The aim was to write both big and little goals within each category and then we discussed how achievable they were. To finish the task we are now going to write them all down onto one piece of paper, place them somewhere prominent in the home and tick them off as they are completed.

Top tips for setting goals:

  1. Make positive statements - For instance, ‘Learn to play the guitar’ instead of ‘Stop playing the drums’.
  2. Be specific - Make yourself accountable with dates, times and amounts so that you can measure the achievement.
  3. Prioritise - Once you have written all of your goals down, take some time to work out a list of what to achieve first, directing your attention to the most important ones to begin with.

If you are thinking of starting off the year with a clear focus on the rest, or perhaps you want something to look forward to, then have a go and let me know how you did in the comments below.

In our hour of fun, we decided on some great additions to our New Year such as completing driving lessons, taking a holiday abroad together and having black out nights!

Have you made resolutions or goals for 2015?

A New Year, 2015

Well it’s safe to say that the ‘break’ from my blog was a lot longer than planned.

9 months to be exact.

To fill in the blanks; I took a break from blogging and creating video content on YouTube to concentrate less on my love for ‘social media’ and put more effort into finding a job. This I did, and it’s a blooming great one at that! We also moved back to Sheffield, a city that has always felt like ‘home’ to us, even though Hull is where we are from. We have had quite a tough few months towards the end of 2014, none of which I will go into on here but they are all experiences that we are learning from.

As I write this, it is Thursday 1st January 2015 and with a New Year becomes new dreams, well  it does for me at least. I am a MASSIVE dreamer, goal setter and love the feeling of accomplishment. Therefore, it’s been great to have a couple of days off from work and really understand what I want to get out of this year.

The end of 2014 has taught me that life is FAR too short, and i’m pretty sure that this was the same outcome of 2013 too but this time it is different. I am the only one can make my life what it is, so it’s about time that I pulled my finger out and made it happen.

It’s no secret that i’m a huge fan of social media, I enjoy blogging and vlogging and therefore it only makes sense to incorporate both back into my daily routine. It also gives me the opportunity to listen to music VERY LOUD, whilst i write away.

That leaves me to say, welcome back to my blog and I wish you a very successful 2015!

Keep smiling :-)
