EXPLORING MACAU

If you're a real explorer with a passion for adventure, you're going to love today's blog and video.

Day 5 saw Rachel and I venture into the heart of Macau, accompanied by her friend to visit many of the famous landmarks and we also did some urban exploring of our own.

THE BIGGEST CASINO IN THE WORLD

Day four started in The Venetian, a luxury hotel and the casino resort. Which also happens to be the largest single structure hotel building in Asia and is modelled on The Venetian in Las Vegas. It's located just across the road from Rachel's hotel and is owned by the same company, Sands.

PARADISE IN MACAU

Day three was all about relaxing and traveling. Rachel and I had completely warn ourselves out the day before, with a trip to The Buddha (Part One) and ending the night at The Peak Tower (Part Two) and what I also failed to mention in the last blog was that, we got completely lost navigating our way to The Peak Tower and ended up walking for 45 minutes in the wrong direction - in the unbearable heat and flip flops - not a great combination.

TRAVELING TO HONG KONG

When your best friend lives across the other side of the world - and you only manage to see her once or twice a year - the idea of spending 17 days in paradise together, is something you will always say yes to.

I did just that.

Back in May I packed my case (to the brim), said a final goodbye to John and then set off on a 5,946 mile journey to Hong Kong to live out a once in a life time opportunity with my beautiful friend Rachel.

I'd not seen Rachel since she came to Sheffield for a couple of days before leaving the UK to start her new working contract in China. Therefore, I decided to capture as many moments as possible through photos and videos during the trip and have began to put together daily vlogs for us both to look back on. Especially as Rachel had dedicated a massive amount of time putting together an itinerary of activities, trips and relaxation. Too much to remember off the top of our heads.

Below are some photos taken from the first leg of the journey, and if you scroll to the bottom you can watch the vlog too. I flew by myself for the first time (meaning that I was concentrating on not missing flights instead of filming) so this video is just a short introduction and the rest are much more action packed!

I will be sharing more blog posts with photos and videos over the next few weeks, so please let me know if you're enjoying them.

SHEFFIELD BLOGGERS NETWORK

Sheffield's Blogger Network and True North Brew put on a bloggers event at The Forum this week and my lovely friend Julie invited me along.
It was my first bloggers event actually and one that i'd love to attend again.

The Forum is the perfect venue space for an event like this - it was held in the seating area to the left hand side of the bar, which meant that the rest of the public could carry on drinking on the other side.
There's a raised platform / stage area which was perfect for showcasing presentation slides on a huge screen behind. Plus with the seating arrangements made it a great social event, whilst still being able to interact with the speaker.

Jess Bridgeman from Don't Fret Club spoke at the event about content strategy and social media and although most of what she spoke about made sense to me because of my day job, it was good to have a few minutes to listen and think about applying those tactics to my blog.

The team put together a raffle to end the night and I was lucky enough to win a True North Brew Gin Set (below) complete with Sheffield Dry Gin and Fentimans Tonic Water.

We even came away with a good bag of offers, Leadmill tickets, tea and more information about Forum parties.

It was a great night and i'd recommending attending again if you're a budding blogger or interested in meeting like minded individuals.

I would love to hear more speakers and potentially see some entertainment at  future events, because I don't think people were ready to leave at the end and it's a shame to wrap things up so early in the night.

You can keep track of the Sheffield Bloggers event HERE and find out more about True North Brew HERE
